1998 Mountaineer
Finally got the "lightly rolled" 98 Mountaineer 302 finished up and have run a bit over 1/2 tank of gas through it. MPG averaged out to 17.4 in a mix of town and freeway driving, filled up today. The speedo is pretty close to what my GPS says, from about 35~40 MPH up. Below that it's off a bit.

Even if I only pick up 2 MPG that's a big gain over 17.4! ($1.79 gallon with Maverick club card.)

I've searched the forum and mostly looks like what people have put on their V6 for fans- especially the newer threads. I want to see what's been used on the 302 for electric fans.

I took a look at my Mountaineer, the fan has 4 nuts on its back side and there's four bolts or nuts holding the clutch to the pump. Doesn't look at all like it threads onto the pump shaft like the pics in that other thread.

There should be 4 bolts holding the pulley to the pulley flange. But the fan clutch should spin on just like the picture shows. If not, somebody has done some swapping around on you and I have no idea what you have.
