Hey guys, I was browsing ebay and ran across a 20 dollar transistor for a throttle mod. Could anyone tell me what's up with that? How it works, what it does. I wouldn't be stupid enough to get it off ebay.

A bunch of crap. It's a supposed $20 mod that will give you a bunch of horsepower.

Actually, it will make you faster becuse of your lighter wallet.

There are some other posts on this scam. Try searching.

There are 2 different mods to search for.. One is for the IAT (intake air temp) and the other is for the o2 sensor.. the IAT is the common one (resister mod)..

neither is worth doing.. (yes I tried it, but I built my own IAT mod)..

I don't have my notes here at work.. but basically I did the following..

I took out my IAT and measured the resitance of it at different temperatures.. (32F 70F and 100F)....

I then put a POT (variable resiter with a dial) inline. I can use the dial to lower what temp the truck sees by 50F or so.

If you need pics (not much to see.. its a box with 2 wires coming out) or anything else lemme know... I can take pics etc... but it doesn't help any (from what I can tell, and have read).. .I have not done a dyno test on it..

BTW.. it cost me about $10 to do... the cost of the pot, the box to put it in and some quick connect connectors..
