whats this noise?

When I crank up my ex, it has a whining noise coming from up the hood. It is very loud but after a few miles of driving it goes away. it is very embarassing leaving a parking lot with a whiny truck. I though maybe it is my belts or fan. Does anyone know. Now that the weather is hotter its getting worse. Everytime I crank it up it whines.

don't mean to sound stupid, but what is the IAC? And how much does it cost to fix it?

open the hood.... and check your alternator... it will whine like that. i see you run subs... which drains and pulls on the alt... could be the bearing going bad.

IAC = idle air control valve. $30 to buy +/- depending on your area, a few minutes if you do it yourself. A haynes manual will tell you all about it. And if its an alternator bearing you can get a rehab kit for $50 +/- and that gives you two new bearings and a voltage regulator.
