mines apparently broken and i need a new one. all i know is that it controls the door open warning chime.

that appears to be your ignition tumbler assembly (put keys in to start truck). Then it looks like i can see part of your ignition/starter switch (black box below ingnition tumbler)
 












Whatever it is, and knowing Ford, you'll probably need to purchase a new ignition cylinder assembly, and have it re-keyed to match the rest of your locks.

It seems like every time I need a replacement part, it happens to belong to an assembly of some sort.
 






I think that's your PATS transceiver. It reads the key code and sends it to the PATS module, and allows the engine to start. If the engine will start, its OK.

The key warning chime switch is inside the ignition switch itself. I don't think you can buy it separately, so you will have to replace the entire switch assembly.

Is your trouble that the chime won't function with the key in the switch, and the door open?
