How's it goin, I currently have a 91 Mustang GT with engine work, and unfortuneatly, it's reflecting in my driving record. So, I'm planning on selling the car and get me something that I will keep me out of trouble, from the CHP anyways. I've always liked Explorers, and know I want to get a 4X4 with hopefully a 5.0, because I can do whatever engine work that needs to be done.
So I want to ask you guys what the best years for the 5.0 4X4.

Thanks everyone!!

well you wont ba able to find a 4x4 5.0. they come either awd or 2wd. they started making them in 96 and they are pretty good any year you get one. i cant remember when they started going to the returnless fuel lines though so you may want to do some earching around here and find out.
and Welcome :D

Welcome!

All 5.0L Explorers are virtually the same except for these differences:

1996-97 1/2 - GT40 Heads with internal EGR
1997 1/2-2001 GT40-P Head with external EGR

I believe it was in '98 when they went to returnless fuel. As well as in '98 the 4R70W were upgraded internally.

I highly recommend you pick up any year 5.0L. How much you sellin the stang for?? :D :p

welcome to the site..... what are you looking for? project truck or what? there is a member here with a modified 5.0 4 door 4x2 that can probably run 10s by now www.speedfreak.cc the only 5.0l awd explorers are newer, but have an awd system
many people have cinverted the older style explorer to carry a 5.0l

It's got P&P heads with dual springs, 1.7 Crane RR, Explorer GT-40 intake, modified Explorer T/B, longtube headers w/ O/R h-pipe and Flowmaster catback, TKO tranny, Tri-Ax shifter, Ford Racing Alum. driveshaft, X2C Control arms, coil-overs, KYB adj struts in front Comp Engineering Adj. Drag shocks in back, Stalker front end, Cyberstallion hood, plus gauges on the pillar and a pretty nice radio. I love the car so much, but she's getting me into too much trouble :(
