I've been looking to get some new tires on my Merc lately, original size is 235/65/18. I was looking to go to a 265/60/18 but I'm not sure how this will go on the stock wheels. Does anybody know the stock wheel width? I can't seem to find that info anywhere on the web. They are listed as 18" Satin-Aluminum Chrome-Clad in the book.

unbolt a wheel and clean the backside of the spokes to find 18 x -- and also the offset

18x7.5

Is that wide enough to support the 265/60/18 I'm looking at? I was thinking an 8" wide would be ideal but 7.5 should work w/o issue.

I'd be more concerned about rubbing than too much for the width...search on here for max size from other members. my 06 eddie is still rollin original sneakers...Third Radiator, Third steering shaft, but original footwear.

Check the manufacturer's site for the brand you're looking for. In most cases, they will list the "approved rim width" for a particular tire. For example, Firestone lists 7.5"-9.5" as the approved rim width for some of their 265 tires, 7"-9" for others. As Michael mentioned, rubbing is probably a bigger concern than mounting the tires on your rims. I have 265/70R17 on my '07, and I get some minor rubbing at full turn.
