I just got my first car. 92 exlorer xlt. Stock.
I need to know what I can do to my car (if anything) to be able to go mudding
with my friends and stuff. Where I live nothing is really too big. Mostly mud and sand. I just
don't want to get stuck. So any ideas will help.

Mud tires, a lift and REALLY GOOD TOW POINTS. You go out in 2wd, you are gonna get stuck. If the rear end was locked up, you'd get further, but you're options are pretty limited with a 2wd.

Just make sure your friends are willing to drag your a$$ out all day!

Interco SS-M16s should be good for both mud and sand, but with a 2wd you're pretty much screwed for actual wheeling.

I'd just keep it stock, make it your daily driver and look for a 4x4 Explorer with a manual transmission.

Best advice you're going to get. Including the lift, tires, exhaust, and 5spd conversion I have about $1000 invested in mine.

That is what I thout I'd hear. The only problem is it's gonna be like 10-12 months before I can get a new car. So I'm probably just gonna have to park and hitch a ride with my friends through the trails. Which is gonna suck.

Why 10-12 months? Get a job and buy it yourself. That way your parents can't control what you do and don't do to it.

Not condoning neglecting parental regulations, but they'll be less pissed if you smash into a tree with a truck they didn't pay for.

You can find used 4x4 Explorers for around $500 that need a little work. Get you a fixer upper. I just got one myself.

That would work. I'm thinking of getting a ranger or a bronco though. But whatever I can find cheap I'll buy. How much money have you put into you're explorer?

I get a job in like a month. But since I'm 16 I can only work 20 hours a week and I'd only make like 300 bucks every 2 weeks so it's gonna take a while unless I can find a sweet deal. And my parents wouldn't get pissed if I smashed my car into anything. They'd just make me pay for it.
