4 wheeling with a damged X

Am I still able to go moderate 4 wheeling if I have a leaking front seal and a DTC 332 (insufficient EGR flow) code or will my explorer be damaged even worse than it already is?

I wanted to wheel with some of my friends this sunday and don't think I'll be able to fix the problems by then. I am in the midst of replacing my DPFE sensor and my EGR valve, but I am not sure if that'll solve my CEL problem. Also chaning the front seal might be a little too involved for my expertise, which is not much. But I'm trying to learn as I go and as things break. I had a whole lotta wierd stuff going on with my X and after searching this site I think I have a better understanding of what is going on. But then again, I don't think I'll be done fixing the X by this sunday.

I've been wheeling on my tranny that's missing OD right now....it all depends on the mental state of the driver and how much you're willing to spend if prolonging repairs causes more problems.

make sure the front diff is full and go wheeling... as for the egr, its going to waste more gas then a properly running engine as the computer will be having tune issues.... but its not going to hurt much more than regular driving would

let me see.....you said the front diff and not the trans itself right? If thats what you meant then it brings me to another question. I want to change the gear oil in the front but I'm not to sure how to do that with the TTB? Now the rear seems pretty simple as its just the diff cover. But if I don't really need to change the oil and just add new oil what about that Purple Royal stuff?

umm, well if you mean front seal in the front axle, then yeah, you could top it off and a little may leak out. I wouldn't go in any water or mud though, (i learned that one the hard way) if you mean front pump seal on your transmission, it will likely dump a bunch of tranny fluid and possibly not shift (come to think of it, I learned that one the hard way too, it cost me a torq converter) maybe worse. Don't get me wrong, I've been the king of unprepared wheeling, and even when you think you are ready, you can lose a seal like the one I lost on my tranny and have no choice in the matter in the middle of BFE.

As for changing front diff oil, you need to remove the fill cap and pump it out with some electric or drill pump.
