Hey, I was just wondering when anyone is planning any run around Colorado? I have 3" body lift and 31" tire, so it can't be anything too hard. I might bring someone with a stock Bronco if that is OK. It's still a Ford.:)

Thanks!!

I'm taking the F-150 group up saxon mountain may 18th. Your welcome to tag along. I'd invite all explorers but I think they have gotten sick of the trail or something :).

I might come along if I have my hubs/front hooks installe, if that's ok

Where is it located? near what town? Is it moderately difficult?

Last year we took 3-4 stock Explorer's over it so it's not hard at all.
It starts at the George town lake and goes up the south mountain. It is a really fun run for the first of the year.

Well I will know this weekend whether I can go or not. Hopefully I can go. I probably will. Where are we meeting, time, etc...?

Saxon-
being as the first time I went we couldn't make it for the snow, and the second trip I never made due to the wonderful A4LD tranny, I would love to make this trip but there are too many moab preperations that still need to be done! But I would recomend this trip to everyone, Matt is a great trail leader and alright to hang out with for a day, as long as his (_|_) stays covered!

Marshall,
Wait on doing Saxon and you can do Spring Creek with me and whoever wants to go. It will be after we get back from Moab.
Spring creek is a LOT harder trail and you can come down Saxon if you want or go out the way we did at Saxon.

I really liked spring creek specially the boulder field.
:D

This is a picture of the top of the boulder field. Once you get thru this part it isn't far to the top.
It took me a few times to get thru this part. You can't tell but it is also steep along with the rocks.

Whenever anyone wants to come down and run any of the trails in the San Juans, let me know. I tried Yankee Boy Basin yesterday and if it weren't for one 50 yard long section of snow it is already clear (at least as far as I could see, couldn't make it through the snow bank, it was deeper than my X is tall). Gonover basin is clear about half way and Imogene pass is still totally blocked.
:( I was told Engineer is completely clear already as well as Owl Creek Pass (if you are looking for scenery more than challenge). I'll keep a tab on the rest of the passes and let anyone interested know if they are open or not.

If we can afford it we would like to come out that way later this summer before Patrick goes back to school. It will depend on what is planned for the CCR run this year but we want to take my co-worker and his girlfriend down to that area.
I have heard of some cool ghost towns that I want to check out and they aren't really hard roads either so this will be more sight seeing then hard core for us.
Keep in touch on how the trails are doing and we will let you know if or when we plan on going.

I too would like to do some runs in that area, and wouldn't mind seeing my bud Patrick before school starts though come Perry they aren't even out yet and you are talking about going back, lol. Perry I see you swapped tires you like the new ones better than the Big O's?

I don't know yet about the tires. I just got them put on Weds. and now the truck is at the shop with the front end torn apart.
Did new ball joints, pack bearings all that fun stuff and one of the spline washers was bad so I have to wait until Monday to get it from Ford. I ramped it Thursday but only going up straight. I want to ramp it backwards to see but I think I might hit under hard down hill which I do often it seems.

We drove to Denver Friday night with them and it road better then the Big "O" tires, but then they were getting pretty bad.
Surprised you noticed we changed. I REALLY LIKE the looks of the 35's.

well, whoever wants to do Saxon is welcome to. However Perry is right. If your looking for a huge challenge, this trail isn't it. i'm taking my stock F-150 on it and typically the worst that happens ot stock explorers is scraping a rock against and axle or something, nothing major at all.

Some guys ran Spring Creek this weekend and said there isn't any snow up there so Saxon should be able to pass. Last year we had to wait until the end of May I think.
Not good the snow is already gone.

Hey Matt I think we will join ya. :) That would be a good birthday outing... I don't really care that its not challenging it would be nice just to get up to the mountains. Just let me know when you plan on meeting there and where etc... :)

Ryan, that sounds good.
By the way, I think I left some clothes at your house, LOL.

Yeah you did! LOL We came home and were like hey these are Matt's clothes! LOL We will return them to ya... :)

I'm comin...
