When should the trans fluid be replaced?

My friend has a 2010 explorer with 52k miles, when should the trans fluid be replaced? What does Ford recommend?

Change automatic transmission fluid and filter (filter not required on 6F35). Except vehicles equipped with the TorqShift transmission).

Ford's recommended interval is 150K. Most here believe that's much too long regardless of use.

Also, service intervals from Ford change based on driving conditions. For severe driving conditions on the 5 speed it drops all the way to flushing every 30K miles if you use the maintenance tool on their web site.
