i just looked into getting one for my truck as i thought that it might be bad and it was priced at $200.00 not bad but ..... now i think i will just have to replace my tranny instead oh well by the way you probally have a borg warner 4405 it is easy only like 5 bolts and remember to get the gasket before as i forgot, found the one i was gonna get a the local junk yard truck only had 37000 miles on it when somebody rolled it after that i would never want to roll mine. why do you want to replace yours?

I've looked under at my transfer case and can't find a part number anywhere.

Anybody have any idea what transfer case I have?

I have a 1998 EB AWD with the Auto, 4HI, 4LO switch on it. I've taken it in and they said the transfer case is shot. I don't have any odd noises, but the AWD doesn't work.

One guy told me it was either a 4005 or 4006, but I can't find anywhere on it to tell which one it is.

Any help would be appreciated!!! (And yes, I did a long search on the subject.)

You have the 4405.

You're transfer case isnt "AWD" -- its a selectable transfer case via the transfer case shift motor.

Ok, cool, I didn't know that. I just believe cause the switch says AWD that it is. lol

Thanks for the info!!!!

Now I just have to find one.

Uuuh, your switch says AUTO, not AWD. AWD has no switch. There should be a sticker on the front of the transfer case, and it should look similar to this:
At any rate, you're looking for a Borg-Warner 44-05 transfer case. You'll want to find one from a 98-01 for it to bolt-up and fit. The 97 case uses a different front output shaft, and a 95-96 case has some other odd differences internally, although it should work (may need to double-check the pinout on the connectors first). -Joe

You are right, it says Auto, not AWD, my mistake.

Someone from the site has a 4405, so hopefully, I'll get it all fixed up soon enough.

Thanks again for the help!!
