thanks for the sites but i cant seem to find the 6" skyjacks for the x do they make them or does everyone just use them from another ford vehicle and if so which one would match my 92 xlt v6 sohc

If I were you i go with the 5.5in superlift
the only caught is there are two different kits for the early gen explorer

also check out www.ntwonline.com good prices

as for the 6 inch skyjacker lift, they dont make it for the explorers anymore.

What you have to do is order the 6 front for the ranger and do a Spring over in the rear

I just put the 6 inch skyjacker in 2 weeks ago.

also try Rocky Mountain Suspension, they have a websight but when I tried to post it, it came up unfound, so just go under yahoo and type their name. it will come up

I called Skyjacker about the status of the 6" lift and they said the new version should be out before the end of the year. (Fingers crossed) Its mine when it does.

New version for the first generation explorers? WooHoo I would be first in line for that. I did see in their catalog a 6-8" drop pittman arm for the explorers, supposed to eliminate bump steer.

Whats different about it?

From what I understand, they are redesigning the rear lift design. I don't know what exactly they are redesigning, but that whats the guy on the phone said.

thanks for the help every1 and if/when they do return with the 6" skyjacker let me know how good it is so i can decide on what 2 get

i know this seems like a real noob q but when i buy a lift kit is there anything else i have to buy (shocks, struts,etc...) hope some one is still reading this so i dont fudge up my truck when i do lift it

A lot of kits offer the option of shocks. Since there are so many choices of shocks and people want to use specific ones, kits are often posted with two prices, one with shocks, ones wiithout. Many times, with shocks, they are called "systems", without shocks, "kits." Just check to see what it comes with.

Actually , I believe when they call it a "system" it comes with rear springs {EDIT}:as apposed to blocks and/or Add-a-leafs.

I'll second that

Don't forget extended Brake lines.

If you run a 6" lift you will also most likey need to have your drive shaft lenghtened and balanced, both front and back.

These are great trucks off road, you'll have a blast:D
