Where is ECTS? 99 4.0 SOHC

I believe my wife's 99 Explorer sport w/4.0 SOHC may have a bad ECTS. It has a very poor idle only on cold mornings. The colder it is, the worse it runs. Once it warms up for a couple of minutes, it runs fine. Could someone give me a brief explanation of where to locate this sensor and how to replace it? Thanks.

It's located near the thermostat housing. Don't get confused with the sensor for the temperature gauge, or indicator light. The ECTS has 2 pins. You would need a deep socket, or box wrench to remove, and install it. Here is a troubleshooting chart:

This is the same Problem a bad IAC would give you. Are you sure it is your ECTS?
