Where is mileage stored?

I have a 2001 Explorer Sport and I was wondering where the mileage is stored. If its stored in the instrument cluster or the computer.

From what I read it is stored on a flash eprom in the instrument cluster.

2001 isn't electronic, it's not stored anywhere. The mechanical numbers in the speedometer are the only record.

no i know my explorer has a digital instrument cluster and i also know that its a 2001 according to the vin number
