I wanna get a new HU. Im reading that you have to bypass the factory amp. I have a 97 XLT with the stock bottom of the line system. NO sub, but I do have a 6-disc changer. Do I have a stock amp the rear cargo area.. I dont know!

I believe all 2nd gens have a factory amp. If you pull the panel were the little cubby is in the back of the vehicle you should see it there.

Yes its back there. I just left mine in and used an amp bypass harness to connect the two connectors going in and out of the amp. Now to really amplify my speakers :D.

RFR2212~ Ive read that that is where it is located, even if I do have it, why is it mounted way the F back there? Thanks... Is it hard to bypass when installing a new HU. B/c i want to put in the mp3/cd player by pioneer P850.... which has a fold down flap, and how would I go about hooking that up?
