Best per buck are the Gabriel VSTs, available at Autozone and many other fine retailers :)

how many miles do shocks usually last?

how long do they last? I believe around 35-45,000

Bilsteins last 1 million miles!

I read at one time that Sears sometimes offer Monroe Reflex or Sensatracs for around $40 each installed. That's a good buy especially if you are going to get it done at the shop anyway. If could do the job yourself, the Gabriels VST at $25 is the way to go although they are a bit on the stiff side I heard.

as long as we are talking about shocks...

What is a good brand of shock that will give more of a smooth, car like ride?
If a shock would make a difference?

We have two identical 97 Explorers XLT's, same stock shocks, but the ride is much different.
One has BFG Long Trails load range C and rides like a dream.
The other has regular Duelers H/L's and rides like a fork lift. (maybe it's the tires?)

Maybe blue Explorers just ride stiffer then green ones?

Do you think shocks would be the answer for a smoother ride?

That explains the stiff ride on my TAN Explorer. From my experience, black color vehicles seem to give me a smoother ride.

:p :D
