Where to find a tranny solenoid?

I need a transmission shift solenoid for my 2002 mercury mountaineer 4.0 2wd. The problem is trying to find one without going to the bastads at my local ford dealership.any help will be greatly appreciated.

The 5R55W uses a solenoid block, so you have to replace all of the solenoids in one shot. This block typically lasts about 60K miles. Check WWW.TransmissionPartsUSA.Com.

my mounty is at 90k right now. I haven't had her for 10k though. The reason I ask about one of these is that it wants to lag between 2nd and 3rd. Should I buy the solenoid or just service out the tranny and see what happens.

The shift flare issue might be from the block or the valve body. There is a shift kit for this. You could check Borland's thread on replacing the solenoid block when you are ready to swap them.

I got mine replaced at the first 60k, it sucks!! BTW 1000$ 300 km after the end of the warranty...................
