I know in the search there are a variety of answers, anywhere from the cooler lines to the ports on the tranny to welding a bung in the oil pan.
The 4r70w already has an internal temp gauge built in because my Baumann controller in conjunction with a laptop can show me the internal temp of the tranny. That's the temp I'd like to get displayed by my new gauge I'm ordering from Summit. My questions is which port on the 4r70w would be the best one to connect to? There are 4 on the passenger's side and one on the driver's side. I don't know enough about the internal workings to know which one I should connect to. I'm just looking for an overall internal temp that will hopefully best match what I've gotten used to seeing on the laptop. Time to put the laptop back in the house :)

Thanks guys
Malcolm

Why not tap into the wiring harness and use the temp sensor on the VB ? (The one you are reading now with the laptop?

ps. you should be receiving something in the mail.

Humm I don't know. The resistance of the temp sensor on the VB may not match the resistance of the sending unit supplied with the aftermarket gauge? I'm not even sure where to tap into that? Seems like it would be much easier to just thread their sensor into one of the ports.

I'll keep an eye out for the mail. Thanks.

Hmmm good point. I can give you the resistance table and pinouts though if you have any curiosity. If I were going to use a pressure tap, I might be inclined to use the LINE tap.

Sure, I'm curious to know. Is the Line tap one of the first sources of fluid after it's been sucked from the pan? Or is it later on after it's been through the pump, and majority of the VB?

Thanks
