Where do you guys mount inline fuses for your stereo? There is a place behind the fuse box, but it is a fairly long run before you'd get the fuse in. I need to find a place to mount a: isolator and two fuse holders.

Thx,
Cory

Directions on any inline fuse I've ever seen say as close to the battery as possible. 5 inches or so.

Every stereo installer i know says within the first 10 inches of the line. Think it's either state or federal safety law? The closer the better, for front end collisions.

Actually, it's so that there is as much power wire protected as possible. You don't want to expose to much power wire between the battery and the fuse. An un-fused short will ruin the battery and could damage other circuits as well.

I install stereos, systems, and all that good stuff for cicuit city and i know for a fact that you need to put a fuse no further than 12 inches or 1 ft from the battery. It will be the best to conect the power wire directly to the battery instead of after the fuse box. This cause for some wierd reason there is a possibility that you could have a ground loop or a whine in your system when the car is on. Also run the rca cables opposite the pwer wire. Good luck

I know a good amount about installing stereos, and I know that you should put the fuse as close as possible to the batt. What I was wondering is where you guys actually MOUNT the fuse holders? Like i said before, the only good place that I see is right behind the fuse panel, but thats a fair length away from the battery.

I zip tied mine to the underside of the lip that the hood rests on, about 2 inches away from the battery.
