Hey all,
I've got a question that i have been pondering about for quite some time now. I recently got a job and i have a bunch of money to spend. I was looking into getting a lift for my truck. I was wondering which lift you used and which do you recommend. I want a 3 inch lift. If possible i would also like to know how much you paid for it, and if you had to do any other modifications to your truck so the lift would work properly.

Thanx Again,
Craig.

how much money are you looking to spend? they make a 3 in body lift or you can get a 4in suspension. bl costs about 100bucks suspension anywhere rom about 800 to 1200 bucks. i have a 3 in bl and needed to do some mods to make it work. i had mine done by a shop for 325 dollars. do a search on lifts you will find much more info.

Im not sure if im willing to spend 800 to 1200 on the 3 inch S. Lift, but the body lift doesnt sound like it will help if I want to make my clearance higher for off-roading. It sounds like all it does is lift the body. But maybe. What all does the body lift, acually lift, besides the body?? This is the first I've heard of a body lift. Sounds pretty pointless in my case. but maybe.
Craig

the susp lift would be 4 inches. the bl only lifts the body. you could do what i have, thats a 2 in susp lift and a 3 in or 2 in bl. the 2 in susp i paid 186 bucks for and its easy to install. its coils and rear leafs.

So all in all how much did the 2 inch SL and the 3 inch BL cost you. I was planning on doing all the installation my self if it was easy. Also would it matter what shocks i have becaus I just bought new Edelbrock Performance IAS shocks front and rear.

the sl was 186 and you can get a bl for around $100. mine was 125 but i bought it at a local shop. the sl is easy the bl is a bit more to it, but can be done by yourself just takes time. you will also need a alignment after the sl. you dont need new shocks unless you go taller than a 2in sl. so all in all for both lifts and a alignment your looking at about 450 dollars.

how to get 3"? Very easy. Buy a Skyjacker 2.5" lift and add 1" coil spacers in the front and longer shackles in the back. That should give you about 3.5" of lift for under $400.00 complete with shocks and alignment.

good luck!

does skyjacker make a 2.5 in lift and wouldnt he need drop down brackets with the total of 3 to 3.5 in of lift.

drop down brackets? Not needed with only 2.5". Skyjacker 2.5" lift consist of: 2 coil springs for the front and AAL for the rear. You will also need new camber bushings to correct front end alignment. well, that and new shocks.

I had that lift on my 94 Limited. I added 1" custom coil spacers in the front and longer shackles in the back to even things out. Also, 1,5" custom body lift was installed too...... and I ran 33" tires on it. All for under $500.00 - cool, huh?

but for my 94 Sport I'm buying a Skyjacker 6" lift with extended radius arms.... nothing beats the Skyjacker stuff.

i didnt know they made a 2.5 in mine said 2. i want to put spacers up front but my alignment shop said they couldnt go any further (the camber was max out) are they idiots?

they are idiots. Tell them it has been done before. Like I said:
I had installed Skyjacker 2.5" longer coils with custom 1" coil spacers and a shop here in my area was able to align it properly with 2 degree bushings.
You might be right with this 2 inch lift stuff.... they list it as 2-2.5" on the website - I never measured how much of actuall lift I had... I bought mine at Rocky Mountain but this was about two years ago.
I would not go more than 1" on the spacers though.... for more than this 3-3.5 inch you'll need drop brackets for sure....... skyjacker also sells a 4" lift with drop brackets.

i think they rate it now as 1.5 to 2 but yeah thanks ill go somewhere else now for a second opinion cuz id really like to get the front end up a little more. sorry if i made it seem as an argument. didnt mean to.

and I never even noticed anything
;)

BTW... if you can, install the lift yourself and just take your truck in for an alignment. Usually you'll have to go to a truck shop or an Off-road shop to get it aligned. NTB or Firestone didn't want to touch my truck after it was lifted. Just a sugestion.

yeah i did the coils myself. its just the alignment shop had me worried i guess. they said it was even still out a little and that when the coils settled it would be fine. anyway thanks again im relieved to know i can use spacers now if i want.

that's OK... anytime.
I just hope Craig doesn't mind us using his bandwith
