Use a motorcraft oil filter, and as far as oil change intervals go. Of course oil company's will say there oil can last longer which honestly maybe the viscosity of the oil will hold up however the oil also helps remove debris such as varnish and HC (raw fuel) that gets into the oil by bypassing your piston rings during normal combustion. Changing that oil removes those items from your crankcase so it is not recirculated over and over again through your engine. No matter what kind of oil you get HC mixed with your oil is not a good thing for your engine nor will a filter remove it. That's why its important to change your oil every 3k. You can chance it, most people do but truly it just depends on how well of condition you want to keep your engine in.
