My X has developed a whine/whistle which appears to be from front left area (passenger side UK, drivers side US). It only happens when accelerating between 35 and 40mph, it doesn't seem to happen when decelerating through the same range. There may be a small amount of vibration as well but that may be tyre wear as the tracking was out for a while. It has been suggested it is the wheel bearing, which I intend to check this weekend. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Also is it worth changing both front bearings at the same time or just the one making noise? Am I correct that the bearing comes with hub and ABS sensor?

Can anyone remind me how to test for a bearing?
