I drove the car this morning and it was cold out, it made a loud whinning sound, not sure what the problem is, I went to try it again since it got alittle warmer out adn the nosie is still there. It also happens when the car is in park with and without pressing the gas, it does get louder when pressing the gas.

Any ideas?
Idler pulley and or belt tensioner pulley?

I m hoping its not the power steering pump, i checked the fluid and it's full.

Sounds like it could be the bearings in one of your pulleys. There are a couple of ways you can check...

1) Use a mechanic's stethescope. Place it as close to each pulley as possible while the engine is running. You'll definitely notice a difference in sound if you find one with bearings that are shot. You can also use a screwdriver with a long handle in a pinch...

2) Pull the accessory belt(s) off and turn each pulley by hand. You'll notice it feels rough and "gritty" when turning a pulley with bad bearings. It should spin relatively easy and smoothly.

Just a suggestion...

I just placed some oil on the pulley and inside of it as close to the bearing as i could and the noise stopped for a several seconds so I am pretty sure it is the idler pulley, i am at work so i dont have the tools for me to take the belt off but I will get a idler pulley on my way home and take the belt off then and see if the noise goes away. Thank you for your help

I know about the screwdriver, but i left the tools i had in my car at home. they always come in handy when u dont have them hahahaha

No problem. Let us know how you make out!
