I purchased a Ford low profile air deflector for my Ex. Last night I slapped it on and took a test ride. Well, needless to say, any speed above 35mph, the thing whistled. The faster I went the louder it got. Annoying as Hell (& no I won't turn up the radio!). I followed the instructions to a T & Its not rocket science anyway. I rechecked everything and again went out. Still whistling. Took about 2 minutes to take it off. I guess the meaning of this story is what brand, style deflector do you use that doesn't whistle? I've run a Lund Interceptor for years on my Toyota, but wanted something not as high. Also, I really don't want to use any tape, but would consider it if the darn thing doesn't whistle. Sorry this is so long......Jay

re: whistle

I had a rattle problem on a '00 with a Ventviser brand. It was driving me nuts. I took it to the dealer, and they worked on it a day before they found the culpret -- bug shield. When I installed the bug shield, I had to remove the rubber bumpers from the hood. These rubber bumpers held down the plasitc covers which gave access to the headlights. At speeds above 45, the covers would rattle like a reed on a clarinet or sax. I haven't checked under the hood of a '02. The dealer was very nice - even though I caused the rattle.

Re Whistle

I just bought a Lund Interceptor today - will put it on in the morning and post the results. No tape on this on, there are holes on the deflector that match up with holes on the bottom of the hood. Only problem is the screws that came with deflector are to small, so will have to get a larger size.
