2003 XLT AWD V8
First off, I am new to the Explorer just picked up my first one on Saturday, and ran across this forum. It is an "03 XLT V8 AWD. I went to check the oil today and notice it was a little low, so I figured I would add some. When I took off the oil cap there was white paste under it and in the oil fill tube. From my previous experience thats a sign of a headgasket going, this vehicle just turned 36,000 miles. I bought it from a dealer and have a 3 month 4000 mile warranty. The dipstick is still clean oil no milky oil, just looking for some ideas if someone else has the same issue, before I have it looked at by the dealer

Thanks
Ryan

u r correct with the head gasket... now if i were u i would drop the oil and see if it comes out milky if it does then u got a headgasket leak!

some times condensation builds up and mixes with the oil... and that might be wut u saw.. that happened to my dads brand new 07 f150 at his first 1000 mile oil change, i noticed it

so drop the oil if u see any milkyness in it then id take a look at it

definately check but if it is just a very small amount that is normal from the warming and cooling of the engine

I called and talked to the service manager and they are going to look at it today. He thinks it is probably just condensation also.

took it to the dealer this afternoon, they said it is just common moisture build up from short term driving.
