I have been trying to locate 15x10 rims with back spacing in the 4 to 4.5" range. I am having a hard time finding any, as most manufactures only make those sizes with 3.75" BS. I really like the American racing 23 series but it only come sin 3.75 BS..

I am going to wrap some BFG 33x12.5x15 around them and it should be real nice.

That much BS, especially on that wide of a rim, and you'll be rubbing your suspension bigtime.

I have Weld's with 4 5/8 backspacing.. but it's only an 8" wheel. They do have them in 10s though.

Alec I am confussed or not calculating correctly. Can you tell me what the difference is between the following:
  • 15 x 7 4.5 BS (stock) stock tire width=9.3"
  • 15 x 8 3.75 BS tire width 12.4"
  • 15 x 10 4.5 BS tire width 12.4"
Accoring to my math the the inner part of the tire is about the same distance from the mounting pad.
(tire width-rim width)/2+BS = distance from mounting
pad.
So I arrived @:
15x7 4.5 BS = 5.65"
15x8 3.75 BS = 5.95" .30" more inside than stock
15x10 4.5 BS = 5.7" .05" more inside than stock

how are you figuring that a tire on a 15x8 will be the same width as a 15x10? they wont both be 12.4in

So if a tire is 12.4 wide on a 10" rim it will be less on an
8" rim correct? Ok I have bfg's specs with me and they say the section width will decrease about .8" (.4" per inch) when used with an 8" rim...so the following adjustment is in order:

15 x 8 width = 11.6"
15 x 10 width = 12.4"

I will recalculate
15x7 4.5 BS = 5.65"
15x8 3.75 BS = 5.55" .1" more outside than stock
15x10 4.5 BS = 5.7" .05" more inside than stock

The math just gets confusing.

So let's say you have a 15x8 3.75, 15x10 3.75, and 15x10 4.5. Let's also say the tire is gonna be 12.5 wide on all of them (close enough).

1) 15x8, 3.75 vs 15x10 3.75: you have more of a chance of rubbing rim vs tire. I'd always rather rub tire.

2) 15x10 3.75 vs 15x10 4.5: The tire and rim edges are both gonna be .75" farther in, increasing the risk of rubbing components.

Case in point: White96x? has 4.5" BS rims, I forget x8 or x10, but is kicking himself because he rubs so damn much and could be damaging his truck or rims.

Do whatever you want, but I'd get x8, 3.75". And did.

One more thing: less rim = less weight = better performance.

Sorry to revive an older thread, but what do you think of the following tire chart? I used BFG AT KO specs for the tire comparison.

John, what program are using to make your diagrams - they're really good.

Thanks Aaron... I am using a software package called Canvas. I it part desktop publishing and part CAD. The learning curve is steep as it isn't as intuitive as other similiar packages.
