I recently put a set of the GY assurance TT's on my wifes subaru. I was impressed by the ride and wet weather performance, so I looked into the Fortera TT's for my 94xlt. They only have a few miles on them, and so far I like them.

For those that have them on their X's, how do they do in the snow and ice? I was a little leary of putting something that does not have a heavy lug type tire on it for winter conditions, but I decided to give them a shot anyway.

Any opinions you would like to share??

I don't run in the snow but I have TTs on both my commuter Ex (Forteras) and on my wife's Accord (Assurance). Great rain tires. Over 20K on the Ex. About 6K on the Honda.

The Fortera's are the only all season tire with the Snow Tire rating on the side of the tire. They should do awesome in the snow.

Thanks for the replies. I have a good feeling about them, I was just hoping somebody would tell me they had them out wheelin in 9 inches of snow and they were great! Of course the way the weather has been around here, it doesn't seem like it will ever snow.....:(

I JUST WANNA PLAY!!

A few friends of mine use them and they are a good tire. They have taken all the snow that they got thrown at them with no problems but not really big storms.
I put them on the rear of my 93 Buick Roadmaster last year but really never took it out in the snow much but I can tell you it made a BIG difference in the times I did take it out in the snow.
I also like to have a meatty thread but for street driving in bad weather the 12/32's of thread heavily siped seem to work ok.
BTW: I had Pep-Boys touring tires on before and they were pretty good in the snow for a all-season tire and lasted 70,000-80,000 miles.

Have experience with the Assurances on my sister's Accord. I really like them.

As far as the explorer; I got quoted $900 for 255/55R18. The was a no right there, and they're not going to be able to order them in until GY is no longer on strike and begin making tires once again.

i just got a set for my 95 Limited, picked them up for $600 installed. I have to say that they are by far the best tire i have ever used, the 95 is never used off road so i cannot comment on how they are for that, but for ice, they are great, for snow they are even better i have not lost traction yet and for rain they are the best thing ever.

I went from a set of GoodYear Wranger AP's to the triple treads and it is like seriously night and day, little to no road noise and great handling on dry pavement. I am super impressed with them in the ice/snow/slush that we have had so far in Michigan. I am a truck person and usually have a Ranger 4wd, and have always used BFG AT's on all my trucks and these slip less than they do in on road snow. People in front of me will be slipping around and breaking traction all over and ill be fine, i love them, i am considering even getting one for my spare tire too.

Awesome tire, i would defiantly purchase again!
