Just ordered 2 12" DVC 6 ohm Alumapro Alchemies. Their website said I can't port them. Will they still hit hard enough in a sealed to be heard a distance away? I hate to say this leenjen, but I listened to the Audiobahn's (don't remember model) and wasn't impressed compared with these. They do sound good though. Anyway I would be powering the Alchemies with a JBL bp1200.1 wired in series to get a 6 ohm load, so I'm guestimating each sub will get 400 watts, 100 over RMS. Which is fine, I don't spend that much time in the car so I won't blow them. I got the JBL for future upgrades if I want to slam harder

They will sound just fine in a sealed box, that's what they were designed for. Don't worry about being heard a distance away, thats annoying, obnoxious, and illegal. Their a good quality sub and will take the power you're feeding them, you shouldn't run into any problems. I prefer the sound a sealed box to a ported box anyway, have a more linear frequency response accross the board, plus the enclosures tend to be smaller.

PS-It's not a recommended practice to wire two different subs in series, it'll make back EMF... You'd be better off wiring each sub in series so you can have 2 12 ohm subs then wire the 2 in parallel making a 6 ohm load.

That's what I meant. anyway, is it going to be a lot louder than the JL12w0 I have know with 100 watts going to it?

Yup... I've always been a fan of the Alumapro subs, nice accurate sound, very clean, very loud. FYI, at least in the past, they were a product of sorts by the US government. I forget the exact story, but some defense contractor makes (or made) them.

yeah, the alumapros are great subs. they weren't made for vented enclosures, so that's why it isnt recommended. i've heard the alchemy subs, but i'd really like to hear the M16 (just because it's such a cool looking 16" subwoofer).
