why does it say not to?

on like the inside cover of the owners manual of my 97 it says do not put a plaow on it, why cant a plaw be mounted on it?

well...becuase it says not to.... it will screw up your airbag sensor.... will put heavy loads on the suspension components...all sorts of reasons.... basically, it wasnt designed for it.... the owners man also says dont lift it or put on bigger tires....

It says that to cover Ford's @ss. But like Jim said, the truck wasn't designed for it (suspension, bumper, hood, etc), and you'd have to make mods to make it work and not hurt the truck.
