Why does my car lean to one side?

I just got a 4" skyjacker lift put on my 94 explorer and i have a problem with it leaning. I leans to the left side about a half an inch down. i dont know why but i do have an idea. one coil is sitting different than the other. the left side is twisted out of the bracket that the coil sits in more than the other. but the lift shop said thats how its supposed to be installed. Can anyone tell me if there lying to me or if their right?

If you do a search on here you will find that is a somewhat common problem. The gas tank is on that side which can also cause a slight lean.

yeah, but if that was the case wouldn't that happen on every car. because i look at my car compared to others and it leans a lot more than others.Thanks for the help. any other advise will help.

I would deffinetely get an oppinion from another 4x4 shop. But as for the sag, common Explorer Butt sag. Get an add a leaf.

i just measured my explorers rear end and with an EMPTY gas tank the drivers side is 1 inch lower than my passagers side. Everyone was saying that i had a sag because of the feul in my tank but today i purposly ran my tank until i had about one gallon left and i still have drivers side sag.

I am going to go to the dealer tomorrow and see what they say about it and i will bring everyone else that has a car to show them that no other car i have ever seen sags more to one side.

What kind of manufactorer would sell a car that leans strait off the assembly line?

They won't tell you anything. But I gues it is worth a shot. The ford cure on the newer Xs is to lower the front pass side torsion bar adjuster bolt to level it out. It works, sort of. What happens (at least what I think happens) is that your fuel tank and the driver are both on the same side. Most of the time the driver is the only one in there, so the drivers side wears out faster than the pass side. I cured mine with a set of add a leafs to bring some strength back to the springs.

Do you think FORD will pay for the add a leafs? Its their fault not mine. Oh well its under warrenty still so i have every right to complain.

If it is under warranty I would take it in too. As long as you have not modified the suspension at all. Maybe they will put a new leaf pack on there for you. But if it where me I wouldn't hold my breath, they'll probably take you over to the used lot and show you it is like that on all of them.

If they do that then i will say .... wow looks like you guys have alot of work ahead of you putting in add a leafs in all these exlorers and then i will tell him that he shouldnt be so happy to show me defects that were made strait from the assembly line. It honestly never bothered me until now.

That's histarical. I love when people shock those service guys. Hopefully they won't take your truck and say "we'll look at it" and have it for a week then tell you there is nothing we can do.

My guess is that if they do anything, they will just lower the passenger side torsion bar. That is what they have done to everyone else's Explorer that I know of. It will probably take a lot of *****ing to get them to even get them to do that since they usually start off with the opinion that "They all do that".

LOL Mine are 92's and I know they both do it! The lifted one is way worse then the stocker too. I figure it has 10 years of sitting there half the time with a full tank and quite a bit of time with a driver sitting there. Not much weight but enough to sag the rear spring out a bit. It's never bothered me that much though.

mine sags also

My 1992 2dr 2wdr sags on the driver's side also.I want to fix it so bad becouse it botther's me how can i fix it.Can i install and new coil spring and leaf spring's to the driver's side would this help.

I wouldn't touvh the coils if it is sagging in the rear. I would just get a set of add a leafs in there.

Do you still have the single leaf that came on your Sport? If so, where did you get the add-a-leaf?

Never mind. I just went to your web site and see that you are not running a stock setup.

Well the whole driver side seems to sag a bit.
Should i just put a ad-a-leaf to the driver and not the pasenger's side.

You can find a stock 4 door leaf pack at a salvage yard for under $100. Does a lot for the sport!

What improvement do you get with the 4-door springs? I have installed the Warrior shackles which leveled out my X. By Friday I should have the Warrior U-bolt skid plates and when I install them I plan on removing 3 of the spring spacers on each side to get another 1.5 inches of clearance. Short of larger tires or SOA I don't see where I can get anymore clearance installing the 4-door springs. In fact I'll loose some of the clearance that I'll get removing the spacers.

Such a common problem. I fixed up my 93 springs with add-a-leafs. I noticed it was sagging and swapped the rear springs around (side to side). No sag after that.
If ya ever do coil spacers it would be good to swap the coils too if ya got lean.

I fixed it!!!!!!

i fixed my explorer leaning problem. what had happened was when they put the drop down brackets on there is two holes you can choose from and what they did is put one of the i beams in a different hole and now it doesnt lean anymore.
