why don't they use preheaters in gas engines?

well i mean if he says he wants to do it and keeps trying to prove his point he should just do it. and see what the outcome is.
I'm not trying to discourage him. I'm just trying to give some advise as to what might not be so possible or is possible but would require too much $$.

Not trying to push a point across. I was hoping someone who may be interested or have researched the same would give feedback. My thermodynamics and fluid dynamics knowledge are newbie to say the least...very newbie..newbie newbie..lol

But i get you...."Just do it"....:D

I dont really do thermo since I'm also a newbie on the subject except for maybe the most basic concepts (my research in school went towards low-velocity winglet designs).

But fortunately, most, if not all, of the research you're looking for is on the 'net -- just gotta spend a few weeks reading them :D

But I guess the biggest problem is that you dont really have a controlled system or environment. I mean something as little as different air temperature (therefore different air density) is going to affect the results you come up with. Your mood in a span of a week will also reflect your MPG readings (jack-rabbit starts) ;).

Sorta off/on subject
With Nitrous Oxide Injection You want to warm the bottle before you use it right? I always saw ppl running bottle warmers, I know nitrous is colder denser charge but why the heating of the bottle?

Yeah I am not quite looking forward to the reading..LOL...

I am trying at the same time to study for my CCNA..2 damn cisco books then cbt's. I am so tired of them abbreviating everything.

I will make it my secondary reading.

I have read quite many times when trying a new "gadget" the tester does not know they have changed their driving habits and have recorded inaccurate information. Just with my scanguage I adjusted for it and withing few weeks got a slight mileage difference.

I think after a heat exchanger install for the first stage heating (coolant temp 194 degrees Fahrenheit), I will test it in as many varying conditions or should I say record data as often as i can.

How are you now applying what you learned in low-velocity winglet designs?
Are you in school now or working in that field?

Very off subject

I would think you heat the bottle to allow to help the liquid want to turn to a gas and maintain pressure, so you get consistent injection. Gases like to stay as a liquid under pressure and when cold.

Same principals on paint ball gun gas canisters and remote line. You want the liquid to turn to a gas and your pressure to be maintained. Or you end up chopping paint balls and loosing ball velocity

I have asthma.....ever tried using a inhaler when its been sitting in your pocket in winter time..LOL.../gasp gasp
In summer the propellant is warm and under pressure

Ahah I don't do anything with flying -- I'm a programmer for a DoD agency.

WOW... and DoD too..

I wanted to be a programmer. Wish I did. At one point some years ago I consulted in JPMorganChase, JpMorgan then and the programmers were making $900 - $1200 a DAY!

I am giving myself a headache with CISCO...lol
must read and stop looking at laptop...

Those must have been top programmers to be making that much cauz I can only dream about those numbers. And DoD is not that interesting, like most government agencies, its slooOOOoww. And after a few years of actual work, I find that all this DoD stuff is somewhat of a waste of resources (i.e. $$) when many citizens are going hungry and kids are not getting the proper education -- two of the many things that worry me the most. I mean forget comparing today's students' reading, writing, and math skills to other nations [that have left us far behind], there are kids growing up without the basic fundamental skills to make any advancements. And then there are kids that can't go to school because they're sick all the time because they're not getting the proper nutrition and health care.

So now I am gonna jump back into the field of support and tackle the backbone of networks....CISCO.....YEHAAAAAA, then hopefully follow with my MCSE.
I took a few internetworking classes at school and I thought about getting the certifications, so maybe you're my motivation to them :D. Ah yes, ethernet punch blocks, packet analyzing, protocols.. its all coming back to me now :D

Good luck with the studying. At the very least, stay away from ExplorerForum for a bit :D

LOL....I must read on..

Cisco is universal..so if your in for a change of pace... you can travel with it. A bud of mine has his MCSE and is around the $60 range. He is going for his CCNA too. With that combo he is looking at $70 -$90 hour!

Well i have the 2 self study books. CCNA INTRO exam 640-821 and CCNA ICND. I also have the CBTs and a new one soon. Each book comes with all its text on cd in pdf and test. If YOU are interested let me know and I will DVD the 2 books in pdf ,its test and cbt test and mail them to you. That way you can look it over and decide if you want to pursue it and not waste $60 on them.PM me

EDUCATION hear ya!
I have a 3.5 year old..and that is my most concern. She is skipping preschool( because they don't read) but will start kindergarten as planned. Right now education is on such a back burner. SO as a parent to take it as my role to make sure she is ready for it.
She reads and is doing math (bought abacus) and writes. She knows her name and address, what her allergy (nuts) is and to make sure I read all packages before she eats something. All the other parents that go to a mommy(daddy) and me class does not have one child that reads. Some are already 4+. I don't get it. Why are they waiting. They act like she is a genius, but the parents are the problem. My lady is just doing what she was taught.

I get asked oh what do you do? i said I started reading to here as soon as she came home when born. We did flash cards from 3 months on. I talk to her like she was a person not a baby. Its what all other countries stress to their children. So when someone gets pissed that the foreign kid gets all As who should they blame?

Then their are those kids that want to learn with good parents wanting them to advance but where they live and funding makes the books they use out dated and falling apart.

Ok back to reading catch be back tomorrow...or this evening i should say.
I am just starting the CLI command line interface for cisco routers.

Yup, this site is a killer during finals, its a procrastinator's dream come true...

And about preheaters, from what I've seen they're generally used to increase the temperature of high flashpoint fuels like kerosene and diesel, jet planes have similar systems for their fuel, and up here a few diesel trucks have something similar but for cold startups.
