I have a 97 Ford Explorer 5 door acquired unexpentically but find it a real blast. In 'OZ; we call them 'Exploders', because of the timing chain issue that tends to see them off to the wreckers after 350k klms.
Ours (The Canyonaro) has 270k on the dial and runs sweet as. I find 3k worth of receipts for suspension work done in last 8 yrs and new engine management computer fitted 100k ago, 3 months rego in the glovebox and 7 seater so whats not to like for $400.
I like to fish but my Peugeot cars can only get me so far from the beach but the 'Canyonaro' has opened up some delightful oppurtunities and some grief.
Stuck in 4 wheel drive, snapped a sway bar link, lockable fuel cap issues, interior door handles at this stage and we only have owned it for 8 months, but what a tough made vehicle.
Every time I needed info about the Explorer I would troll the web and found this site to be most heplful and info needed to maintain the vehicle is user friendly. Thank you to all who supply info to this site, it has been a big help, and I thought it would be an honour to be part of your fraternity. G'DAY from Australia.
