Will 98 radio work in a 96

I have a 96 with a standard radio ( No cd control ). Will a radio from a 98 or 99 Explorer or Ranger, with a single CD player work in my truck. Has anyone done this swap before. Thanks.

Ken.. it won't be a direct plugin. You might need to get an adapter to make it work. I can tell you for certain the '98 plugins are different than our '96s. Search this site because I know theres links to aftermarket companies that make adapters. Good Luck and Welcome to the site!!

It will work, but you will need to do some wiring work as the harnesses are different. And you need to bypass the amp in your 96 as the 98 HU has a built in amp.
