Fell asleep yesterday and sideswiped a median. There is a salvage yard close to me with an 04 sport trac same color. can I replace the right side of my 01 with the right side of the 04?

doors should interchange, and by right side of body do you mean fenders, or the bed?

The fenders and doors but I might try the side of the bed. Anyone have experience with this?

if youre just dling one bed side, couldnt you just change the whole bed?

Front fenders aren't too bad to get off, depending on rust. A few bolts under the hood, screws for the fender liner, a couple of bolts at the lower rear of the fender, and 2 bolts, I think, from the bottom at the front of the fender.

You have to do most of the work of removing the bed just to change the side panel. Swapping the entire bed would probably cost more, but be a whole lot easier. 4 bolts in the bed, some small screws to separate the gas filler hose, and some wiring. If you swap beds, be sure to check the steel under-structure for rust. About all you can really see is around the tailgate opening and hinge.

Wow. This is so helpful. Thank you! I’m going to pick up the truck tomorrow and take a good look at the bed. I don’t think the scratches are too bad there. It’s mostly the front fender and rear passenger door. Got very lucky. Could have been much worse. This was my first accident ever
