I might be able to get a 2001 transmission with 20,000 miles, I want to use it in my 97 Mountaineer would it work? The 97 is a v8, so is the 01. I just want a low mileage transmission instead of the 155,000 that I have. Would the motor work too?:D

According to car-part.com only a 99 and up are compatible.

I'm hoping somebody has done this or knows of it being done. I really would like to get it. But it has to be a bolt on/plug in thing as it is the DD.

Is your current trans malfunctioning ? The 4R70 trans is pretty damn durable and lasts pretty long.

There are electronic differences for sure for 98-up.

Nothing wrong with it, just wanted a lower mileage trans.

That's what I was afraid of, guess that answers my question.
