Will a 8.8 rear end fit?

my 7.5 rear end quit.will a 8.8 rear end fit...are brake drums shoes same...what fuild u use for a limted slip....i putting a 355 in..the old is 373
will this work...first time in 6 yrs something major happen..its got 260,000
miles sstill runs good....

swaped 7.5 for 8.8 limted slip.worked perfect,has 355 gear now what is the difference with that ratio..my old rear end was 373....also how hard to install rack and pinion steering.....rear end was a bear to get bolts out...down the road later...i might put a 5.0 in it.....:roll:

Both of your threads were merged together. Did you take any pictures of the swap? There is a minimal difference in the ratio. Your speedometer might be slightly off. These vehicles come with a power rack & pinion. Do you know if the new rear axles are 28 splines like the old ones or 31 splines?
