Anybody know if a '97 rear axle (with ABS) work on a '98+ with ABS? I know the '97 gets it's speed from the t-case, whereas the '98+ get speed from the rear ABS speed sensor. A '97 still has a rear ABS speed sensor, it's just not used for vehicle speed. I would think that that the '97 ABS speed sensor will still communicate vehicle speed with the '98+ vehicles...

Clear as mud?

Clear as clear :D -- yeah a 97 axle will work on a 98.

Yeah, it will... The 97 uses the speed sensor on the t-case to monitor the axle speed for the Control Trac Auto 4wd. It still uses the rear axle speed sensor for the ABS. It *should* plug-n-play for a 98 substitute. :)
