BASIC PROBLEM: will my superchip make an OBD2 scanner read correctly or incorrectly?

I'LL ELABORATE HERE: i had a problem a few weeks ago when my check engine light came on because i didnt have the gas cap on correctly (dont ya just love OBD2?) i drove around for another day or so and the light went off on its own after i fixed the gas cap, and from the system cycling through.

so my check engine light comes on again this morning after i get gas; i immediately think, 'gas cap.' so i pulled over and checked it and i thought it was on there fine, but i took it all the way off and put it back on just in case. by the end of the day, the light went off, so i dont know what it was, but now im starting to get a little nervous/paranoid. i called my regular mechanic, just to see if he can scan it to see if theres any codes, but hes overbooked until friday, and i have a road trip to make on thursday, so it looks like i might have to go to ford (how annoying is that? heh.)

anyway, whenever and wherever i have it scanned, i need to know if my superchip will make it read all screwy. i really dont feel like taking it out (and, yes, im aware that if ford sees it in there, theyll give me a hard time), but i just want to make sure that when its scanned, i get the correct information out of it.

thanks, and sorry this is so long, ive got a nasty habit of making short stories long when i start typing.

No it shouldn't interfere with the scanning process. But I bet it can generate some weird code sometimes when everything isn't just right.

Don't worry, take your trip, the CEL doesn't really mean much.......

bump, anyone else have any input? id like to get a couple opinions (or facts from people with chips.) looks like im just gonna call my regular mechanic first thing in the morning and see what he says, and try to get him to scan my codes tomorrow while hes working on other peoples stuff; it shouldnt take too long, should it? i was actually thinking about running over to pep boys and picking up a code scanner, but arent they like $300 or something ridiculous? if they were $100 or $150, maybe ill pick one up, if not, i aint blowing that kind of cash on it.

It'll create a code about the computer being bad or something similar to that, but nothing to worry about.

That only happened on my '94 4.0L Ranger with a SuperChip. Whenever I scanned it, it gave some computer mis-match code. With my SuperChip in my '97 no codes are generated by it.

Nope, shouldn't generate any wierd codes. However, you should take the chip out when you take it to Ford. Their diagnostics may detect it and they may refuse to work on the truck. Also, if they happen to flash the computer, your superchip may be fried.
