will an AOD tranny work in my X

Do I have the AODE/4R70W or an AOD in my AWD 1996 v-8?

my friend wants to sell me his strip Lentech tranny from his 95 mustang buts its an AOD..... I think I need the 4R70W though....

you have a 4R70W. the AOD will work fine, all you need is a chip burned with tranny function delete.
 






Will the 4404 bolt up to a regular AOD?
 






i am under the impression that the output on an AOD is the same as a 4R70W...... its the same tranny only the RW is computer controlled and has a lower 1st gear. this is merely a guess.... dont take my word for it. if it doesnt work on the output side, PONY could just swap outputs from his RW to the new built AOD.


edit- this would be something tmsoko would know. :)
 






Yeah, I was getting wasted in the chat one night and Doug was talking about this. He said that you'd have to get an AA adpater.

Also, I know that when ASP84 swapped his AOD for an AOD-E he had to change the output shaft and use an adapter to mate with his 1354.

But maybe someone who has done it will chime in.
