Will just a drop in temps cause Intelligent 4WD to turn on?

I noticed today on my way home from work that Intelligent 4WD was on. It was not slick outside but it was in the high 30's to low '40's.. Is this normal? My tires were low on air @30psi. Topping them up to the recommended 33psi had no change.

Intelligent 4wd is always active. I don't believe weather or temperature effects how it works.

Yes I am fully aware of that. Thanks. I asked as it has never turned on before even in rain. Now it is on all the time.

On my ST it shows power distribution in the instrument cluster. Might be some overlook on your side, these cars are always AWD and around town are constantly shifting whether it’s AWD or just RWD.

Mine never showed up even when driving in the wet. I left mine in power distribution for a week just to see if I could force it and it never once showed any power going to the front wheels. Not once. now all of a sudden it is staying on even on dry pavement. I will take it to the dealership on Monday under warranty.

I don't watch it unless the roads are bad. No reason to for me.

That is perfectly normal, nothing abnormal to worry about. Probably never payed attention to it, it barely shows and is on very small acceleration.

My power distribution is mainly 4 wheels in most situations. I rarely see rear wheels only.

At light throttle it's rear only and 1/3 to full throttle it's all wheel drive. In sport mode or slippery mode it's 4 wheels sooner than in normal, eco or towing modes. I've never used the deep snow/mud or trail mode.

I've used Deep Snow mode a few times.
The Explorer traversed my long driveway in very deep snow running Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 snow tires.
