I know where i can pick up some springs and shocks from a 79 f150 brand new! They are for a two wheel drive. I was wondering if they would still give me the 4 inches of lift the ones off of a 4x4 version would. also. If i swapped the rear springs to the top of the axle instead of under it would that give me a 4 inch lift in the rear? What else would i need to complete my lift suspension wise? Please let me know. thanks! I dont want to spend 1400 for a lift if i dont have to.

I didnt find what i was looking for. I've heard i will get anywhere from 4 inches to 6 inches when i flip my shackles in the rear. I am cool with that. What I want to know is about the front. I've heard different responses. I've heard i would get 2-4 inches for puting 510 coils and shocks up front. I want to know if this is true and what all i need for it.

Yes, doing a SOA in the rear will net you about 5-6" of lift over stock. If the f150 coils lift your front by 4 inches, then youre going to need drop brackets to be able to align it and drive it. Anything over 2 inches in front requires drop brackets. And longer shocks too.

I blew my shocks out at 1.5'' of lift

Can anyone Confirm or Deny what the f150 coils will give me? I cant seem to get a straight answer

That's because there is no straight answer.

Everything from what body type and engine the F-150 had to whatever configuration your Explorer is will all change the amount of lift height you get from the springs.

Generally speaking, springs from a Supercab Longbed F-150 into a 2-dr Explorer will give the most lift, and reg-cab shortbox F-150 (or Bronco) springs into a 4-dr Ex, the least lift. You're just going to have to experiment some with it.

And like was already mentioned, 2" is the max height you can go up in front before you need brackets. You'll need an actual kit if you're looking to go higher (such as to match a SOA conversion)

Another thing to consider is even though the f-150 springs might fit and give you lift, they probably won't flex worth crap. They are going to be considerably stiffer than the springs you already have, and those don't flex well already.

So you can use them, but it's going to give you a stiffer ride and you won't get much wheel travel.

Everybody on here is correct. I researched and researched. I got some good advice from 4x4junkie and finally just dove in and did my lift. If you want something specific out of a lift, buy a kit. I use coils made for a 79 f250 and the coils are super soft. Nobody could help me determine what the final ride height would be, because the coils aren't made for our trucks. So, the only way to find out if those coils will work is by putting them under your truck. Once they are on your truck, you'll probably have to make modifications to make them fit/work.
