heard 98+ were same front/rear as 95+ explorers...? if this wont fit...anyone know a 3" that will?

If you order that kit, you will need to buy a steering extension for a '95-97 Ranger seperately. ($70+) You will also have to buy two more of the shortest bolts in the kit and make your own rear bumper brackets.

If you go with a kit that fits a '95-97 Ranger you won't have to buy the correct extension. You will have to order front bumper brackets for a '98 (~$12), make your own rear brackets, and buy four bolts.

No. There is no kit designed specifically for the 2nd gen Explorer.
