Will this manifold fit a 2003 Mounty 4.6L?

Dorman Intake Manifolds 615-175

Looking at Amazon for the part above to be installed on my 2003 Monty 4.6L, but according to Amazon, this part does not fit my vehicle?? Am I good with the Dorman 615-175 or is the Mercury different from the Explorer for some reason? I need to order today. Otherwise, I'll be going through Tousley.

Somebody asked me this before and yes there's none listed for 2003 4.6 Mountaineer (Not sure what the differences are from 2002). He said that if the 8th character on your VIN is "W" then it will fit. I can't really confirm this but you can contact Dorman to be sure.

2 quick checks.

Check out the dorman catalog. http://www.dormanproducts.com/dispstatichtml.aspx?PageName=HD_catalogs.html Search for 2003 Mounty. BTW, doesn't apear to fit.

Another quick check would be go to fordpartsgiant.com and enter your vin. Then go to Engine/Block, Heads & Manifolds and see the part number listed for the intake manifold. If the part number looks like 2Z-9424-AB, then it probably won't work, but you need to confirm. If it looks like 7Z-9424-AB then it will probably work.

Great thanks! I saw on the Dorman site a note that said the manifold "will not work with heated PVC systems. I'm guessing this is it, since I do have a water line coming off the manifold, which goes over that way, although I'll have to confirm at home. Summit Racing was showing the Dorman fitting, but Dorman doesn't. I'll try the fordpartsgiant.com site now...

No, the 2003 Ford 4.6l is not compatible with the 2002 4.6L intake manifold. Ford P/N 2L2Z-9424-AB is required for the 2003 Model, Dorman won't fit.

2003 ford explorer v8 intake manifold.

Does anyone have an update to the question if the dorman or atp greywerks intake manifold listed for a 2002 will fit the 2003. I ordered the ATP for 2002 by mistake but have not installed. The bolt holes intake and injectors all line up with the oem intake and the only visible difference I can see is the gasket (original was a "gasket set" vs the other ring gaskets on the ATP.

Help please.
