Hi, I found a 4.0 with 100,000 miles on it, mine has 230,000+. My explorer is a 4x4, the motor I found a out of a 2 wheel drive, will it work with my 4 wheel drive transmission?

The motor itself isn't 4x4 so it should be fine as long as you stay in the same generation, which means you have to make sure the donor engine is an OHV...

I forgot to say what year they are! I knew I'd forget something, my 4x4 is a 1992, and the 2 wheel drive is you know i have no idea, it's the same generation. I think it's a 93, just glad to know it should work, I'll only be paying $200 for this motor.

what about the 4.0 sohc
