Seems like half the time i get stuck there's nothing in front of me to tie off to but plenty behind. Anybody have any plans or specs on how to build a base mount for a winch with a trailer hitch welded to it AND bumper plans or specs for a front and rear bumper that would accomodate the hitch mounted winch? That way if i couldn't pull out from the front i could hook it up to the back bumper and pull out from behind. Would save alot of jackin' with my HI JACK.

Here is my transformable winch from front to back.
It's a little more involved, it may help you.

More often then not I used to be in the same boat wanting to be able to pull from either front or back.
Hope some of these ideas work for you. I also added remote battery terminals to the winch. They stay with the winch whether it's in the front or back.

Made up a 1/4" plate with bend. The bend had to be made at a local steel yard where I obtained the steel plate. Then drill holes and cut out for cable/Rope.

Mounted winch and Fairlead temporarily to check fit.

Then welded the male 2"x2" receiver to bottom of plate. Had to use a spacer which was some left over 2x2" stock.

Here is the 2x2" slipped into the front receiver with locking pin. I also have other pull pins on top to keep the winch from trying to climb up when used.
You can clearly see one of the pins in the vertical position in back.

Here you can see another pull pin but more importantly you can see the quick disconnect for power. One of these is also at the rear bumper that has another receiver mount.

Here is another pic of the receiver hitch connection. This was before it was complete.

Rear receiver hitch. Of course these are custom bumpers also but you get the idea.

And if I need it mounted in the rear, it's no big deal to switch from front to rear.

Last but not least are the remote battery terminals.
