So all my windows work properly except for the front passenger one. It is definitely a short in the wire somewhere because if I wiggle the wires it will work. I was looking at the wiring diagram and I find it extremely confusing ... Seeing as it is seems to be a short in a power wire (I'm guessing because it will either go up and down if I hold the wires in the right position or else it's nothing at all if I don't move them) which wires should I splice together? Colors?

It's a 2002 explorer xlt

Thank you

Welcome aboard!! :salute:

I had similar electrical issues with my 02 xlt. The dome lights would stay on until the battery saver feature turned them off, the accessory delay wasn't working, the driver side puddle light didn't work, the keypad on the door would set off the alarm when I pressed it, the door ajar light would flash and beep at highway speeds, the radio would shut off as soon as I turned the key off, the delayed accessories didn't work, etc. The alarm would beep twice when I armed it. Recently all 4 windows stopped working. Most recently the driver door lock actuator stopped working.

A lot of electrical issues can be traced back to broken/damaged wire(s) in the boot between the body and the driver's door. I found 3 broken wires and repaired them. The thin black ground wire was broken and after repairing it all was back to normal. When the windows stopped working, I repaired the thick black ground wire and the windows now work like a champ. I had to repair the pink/black wire to fix the driver door lock actuator.

Here is the thread for removing the door panel: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=303524

Here is a great thread for checking for broken/damaged wires, thanks to synyster for this awesome write-up: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=270081

Be sure to take your time when looking for broken/damaged wire(s). Check all the wires for breaks/damage. When you think you're done looking, look again, and again, and again. A bright flashlight can be very helpful.

If all else fails, here is a great link for troubleshooting the power windows, thanks to theofam for this great link Dead Link Removed I have this downloaded and can send it upon request.

Good luck with the fix.

Please keep us posted as feedback helps others reading this post looking for a fix to the same or similar issue!

Thanks for the info.... I didn't look too much into this so far but this is what I've done and I can't find a solution.. I pulled both the master switch and the passenger side switch. I put a fluke meter on there and for the wires that control the windows I got one power and the rest were ground. I figured if one were bad it would show zero volts. Also I stuck my ear on the door and if you push up on the passenger window switch you can hear it click ... When you push down it makes no noise and the lights on switch go out... That doesn't happen when you push down. At this point I'm pretty much stumped.

I just purchased the vehicle on Monday and I'm sure it's a short because when you wiggle the wires it works but only with the door open ( cant wiggle when it's shut)

That does sound like broken/damaged wire(s). I look into getting the wiring diagrams to you tonight.

Check your PM. :D:thumbsup:

Hey thanks for all the help... I finally had a day off of work yesterday so I could dig deep into it. And just as I suspected it was a broken wire. Luckily only one was bad. I should've took some pictures but I was on a mission. I'm pretty sure it was the big white one with a yellow stripe. It was anything but fun to get my enormous hands in there to fix it but once I got it all back together it worked like a champ :)

Thanks again for all of your support
