My drivers side window went down yesterday and it stopped completely. i don't hear the motor, but I do hear the click from the one touch down relay under the dash. it is a 1995 XLT, that is mostly used to pull my boat and make the trip to Home Depot. All the other windows work fine.

I read a lot of posts about replacing the motor, but I don't have the time right now to try that.

How can I manually move the window to the up position? I took off the door panel and the dust shield, and can't get the window to move.

I haven't seen that help in any posts, other than someone saying don't try to force it up with pliers.

I did install a trailer wiring harness 2 weeks ago, but that only connects to the battery and the tail lights, so I don't think that is related.

Please help.

i had the same problem and i took the motor out and tried it without it in and it worked. i figured the gears bound up somehow and froze the motor. i sprayed all moving parts with lub and it worked fine since.

Update

I took the window motor out and was able to raise it up. I was hoping for an easier temporary fix, but it was not to be.

Now to get a new motor and I should be able to put it back together in less time than it took to take apart.

The pictures from 85Dave were very helpful - see this link

Drilling a hole in the dimple was the final key to getting the motor loose. I only had a 1/4 inch drill bit, but i used it and worked a bigger hole with a flathead screwdriver. Not perfect, but it worked.

IMO, its probably the auto down module. There are connections in it that can become unsoldered and the drivers window will no longer move, but the others will. It happened in my friends SHO. I would try removing the module (it will be a 2"x3"x1" box somewhere in the door) to see if it fixes it, im not sure if any pins need to be jumpered to make things work right.
