Recently my windshelild wipers start to spas out and turn on automaticly. They usually turn on all by them selves if i turn left or turn it a bit to the left, use my turn signals, or sometimes they will jus go off goings trait, but most when turning. Also when it rains hard the high and the one below high are the same speeds. anyone kno what this problem is? thanks

Ford

Ford recalled the GEM (general electric moduole) in your vehicle. This GEM operates wipers, rear wiper (i think) 4WD. One of the symptoms of it was spazing out as you put it. Turning on when not being turned on. Not being able to turn them on when off. They added a resistor to fix the problem. Have your vin number ready and call your local Ford dealership. Ask them if the recall has been performed on you vehicle. If not, schedule an appointment to do so.

It may also be the multifunction switch, but I think the GEM does have a TSB for the spastic wipers.

If you take it to a stealership, watch out for Bill Currie Ford. I have had big problems with their service dept, and everybody I know uses Gator Ford for their trucks and LOVES it. ;)

Just my two cents.

now what if i bought this car used what do i do now

It doesn't matter if you bought the thing

It doesn't matter if you bougth the thing from a used car lot. It is still a Ford Exploerer. Ford Motor Company is still responsible for the recall work. And the Ford Motor Company is tied in with eachother. That is to say, you give them the VIN number (VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER like a SS# for your car) and they can tell you wether or not the recall has been done or not. By the way you have two new ones, the Cruse Control Cable (Ford calls it Speed Control) and the reclining driver's seat bolt. Call them. They will tell you all of your outstanding recalls. Also, you can ask about specific ones in case on has been missed and they will be glad to look it up in your vehicle's history. That is the first place I would start. Your Ford dealership should know your X very well. And what's more, if it IS recall work IT IS FREE. You just have to set up an appointment and work with their schedule. But, that should be no problem.
