windshield replacement

Hi,
I have been looking at my crcked windshield for a while and i think it is time to get it replaced.
I am looking at places that do the whole job.
Do you have any advice on this?

What do you mean "Whole job"? Is there something in particular you need done? Most glass companies remove the old windshield, scrape off a certain amount of the old sealant and then lay down new sealant.

A problem with window replacement is that the glass technician can cut into the window lip if he/she isn't careful. This will become a rust spot over time and lead to water leaks into the cabin. Check out the fixing a leaky windshield thread for more info and pics.

Whole job=remove old windshield and install a new one.

Question on a windshield replacement. I assume there is a windshield gasket that will be needed or something similar. How do you locate a source (if not a windshield gasket what is it called) and what would you think the cost be for the gasket? Thanks /jim
