i have 2 jl 12w3 d4 subs and i want to know how to wire them up to a jl 500/1 amp. can anyone explain it to me, or make a diagram if your really bored?
well i really have no idea how to wire stuff this is my first system. the amp is in the mail, its the jl 500/1. there are 4 prongs on each sub they kinda look like this:

so how do i wire up the wires for this? (sorry im audio illiterate, i may need really dumbed down explanations)
hahahaha it was pretty pitiful. and after i look at it again, it dosent look like that very much at all. they are dual voice coil subs and there are 2 wires each going to a metal piece with 2 tabs comming out of each one.
What is the minumum ohm rating for the amp. If you just parrellel all the voice coils together the amp will see a 1 ohm load. If your amp is not 1 ohm stable it will shut down.
It is deffinatly more complicated when you are trying to wire up two subs that are DVC. You have the D4 which means if you ran each sub by themselves you can make them either 2 ohms are 8 ohms. 2 ohms if you wired them up in parellel or 8 ohms if you ran it in series.
Now if you wire up your subs and run them each at 2 ohms and run them in parellel to your amp you will drop it down to 1 ohm which isnt good unless your amp can handle that.
Now if you wire them up as 8 ohms and run them in parellel you will make it a 4 ohm load on your amp.
Now if you run them as 2 ohms then run them in series to your amp you will make it a 4 ohm load on your amp
and if you run them at 8 ohms in series to your amp you will make it 16 ohms.
I probabably messed up while writing this as it is much easier to do it than to explain it. So if i made a mistake i appologize and someone correct me.
